One of the coolest things a friend of mine said to me the other day was, “I wonder where I’ll be next year at this time.” His may be receiving a new job that takes him either to Germany or Japan and he knows that life is about to change. He sounds excited about the possibilities and that is a beautiful thing. This is one of the ways I’ve lived my life for years. I’ve let fate determine where my next step would take me and I plan on living by this philosophy for the remainder of my years. The not knowing is a huge part of the fun. While there are a few aspects of life I’d love to control (aka finances, a roof over my head, and groceries on the table), the location and the idea of what project to start, where to travel to today, and what to do for fun; all inspire me to do more and more.
I have several projects that I’ve started this past year and it will be a blast to see them completed. I foresee that I will be moved down south and by this time next year and hopefully really close to being done with my degree. In the process, the goal is to have the business built to a point of profitability and to have my book published. It’s a huge year that lies ahead and I can’t wait to see the outcome. Along with all of this, there will be new friends, new experiences, and a whole lot of wild and craziness in the process. I’m sensing sleep will be optional. 😉
The big change in thinking for me in the sense that I’m actually looking forward to the years to come and the changes that will be made. While I have lived without a definite path for many years, I’ve never revealed in the enjoyment of not knowing. Learning to appreciate that fact about the way I want to live is the act of gratitude for the next year to come.
So if you would, tell me in the comments below… where do you see yourself this time next year.
