Today I just wanted to take a brief moment to talk to you about dreams. While writing is certainly one of the things I have come to enjoy later in life, learning how to run a business with it is a huge challenge. From writing my books to writing a travel blog and trying to learn everything about both in the process. I’m certainly overwhelmed with all the possible tidbits out there. Some are the same, which is nice because you then know its standard practice. Then there’s all of the other bits, and when I say “other” I mean millions of bits. The blogging business certainly has more ins and outs and people with websites saying, “buy me” for only $19.99 or 49.99 or the latest $199.99. You would end up paying every cent out of pocket just to try to understand if this is something you even want to do. I wish I could say it’s all about writing a good story and sharing it with the world, but it appears it’s far from that.
Then of course there’s the side of publishing a book. Here it’s again, it doesn’t seem to be mostly about the content. It’s about which agent you get, heck how do you even get an agent, or do you go with a small publisher or a large publisher? Do you self-publish? Do you need an editor, and how do you even start marketing it?
So with all this information out there, trying to build a dream seems like climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro. It’s truly overwhelming. So, with all that in mind, I’m going to try to share with you various bits of information about my struggle as it goes. Feel free to shoot me your ideas, if you have anything you want to add or put out there to the world.
Webpage & Progress
One of the first steps that we finally got up and running was my personal website. It’s one of the main forums I will use once I get my books typed up to get the word out there. You can check it out on www.jillcharpia.com
Alright all, I hope you are enjoying your travels wherever they may be!
